Unidentified Algae Eater (Identified)
It was quite an eventful weekend for me. Usually have lunch at the in-laws but this week we shifted it to dinner cos the wife had an appointment at the beautician for a facial. Anyway, that gave me some time to go to the local fish farm to explore.
Went to Jalan Kayu to check out their latest additions, I was particularly interested in a Chinese PiPa shaped algae eater which was out of stock last week. Guess what, they have new stock although the fishes weren't on display. Anyway, got 2 of them and added them to the tank. They are pretty small now and are easily spooked by the larger and more curious fish. They can move very fast, darting around the tank. Sometimes so fast that one second they are there, the next they are gone!
Unfortunately, I couldn't find much info on these interesting looking fishes other than they eat algae and what I can observe. If you know more about them, please do drop me a comment! Fish_
Manage to identify this from a local fish shop. Bought a larger specimen for $1.50, tank was labelled "Borneo Sucker". Its scientific name is Gastromyzon borneensis.

Hi there,
How's your borneo sucker going on? There's quite a number of species of this suckers distribute all over Borneo Island. however, comparing the picture with my book, it seems likely to be Gastromyzon scitulus.
Anyway feel free to hop to my blog at http://borneosucker.blogspot.com
maybe you can find some usefull infos
Cheers :)
